This was an extensive project that entailed comprehensive rehabilitation of the Whitsunday Regional Council’s road networks across various locations throughout the picturesque Whitsunday Region, necessitated by the severe impact of Tropical Cyclone Debbie. This vital initiative was generously funded under the State Government’s Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), underscoring the commitment to restoring and enhancing the region’s infrastructure.

The scope of work for this project was substantial and multifaceted, typically involving the following critical tasks:

• Removal of Existing Surface: Carefully removing the existing damaged road surface to prepare for thorough reconstruction, ensuring a clean slate for the rehabilitation process.
• Replacement of Sub Base and Base Layers: Replacing both the sub base and base layers with high-quality materials to restore the foundational strength and stability of the road network.
• Compaction and Testing: Conducting meticulous compaction and rigorous testing of the new layers to guarantee optimal density, durability, and compliance with stringent quality standards.
• Surface Reinstatement: Reinstating the road surface with either a robust two-coat seal or durable asphalt, depending on specific requirements and conditions, to ensure a long-lasting and resilient finish.
