Coles Andergrove is a new standalone Greenfield Regional Shopping Centre located in Mackay. The development consists of a Coles Supermarket, Liquorland and specialty stores totalling 5,000m2 and also includes a ground level car parking facility.

The project scope that Seaforth Civil delivered included:

• Demolition and removal of existing in ground sewer drainage pipework and installation of new sewer pipework, manholes and pits.
• Stormwater drainage, including the installation of a large underground bio retention pod.
• Supply and installation of warm air ducts beneath the building floor.
• Demolition and removal of existing asphalt surfaces and installation of new car park and road pavements and asphalt.
• Installation of footpaths, traffic islands, traffic signage, line marking and wheel stops.

The intricate details and multiple trades involved in constructing a modern supermarket on a tight schedule presented many challenges of timing and access particularly as all building works need access and storage areas which are also the Civil Contractors work zone.

The Civil Works had to be sequenced and coordinated tightly to enable the building works to progress on schedule. This was successfully managed by a dedicated site team and continual communication with the Client.
