Barton Street Drainage Upgrade, Mackay

Mackay Regional Council awarded the contract to Seaforth Civil for the construction of their “Barton Street Drainage upgrade works” project.

The project involves: the construction of the stormwater upgrade for Barton Street, West Mackay and includes the drainage upgrade through a section of Holland Street, across Lagoon Street and drains to Lagoons Creek Wetlands near the Mackay Botanic Gardens.

The proposed project consists of the following objectives and scope:

  • Improving or eliminating minor flooding within Barton Street, in particular the Barton Street / Mogford Street intersection;
  • Providing a trunk network for future drainage extension on Mogford Street;
  • Taking the opportunity to install a gross pollutant trap to help reduce waste entering the waterway within the Botanic Gardens;
  • Reinstating the road and footpath infrastructure where required.
